Tunnel Kiln  (click the images below)

This kiln is a modified interpretation of a 1000 year old traditional Japanese anagama kiln and customized with aspects of a kiln in Germany built and fired by my friend Uwe Lollmann. A wide mouth kiln with completely flat floor, it allows me to roll in large  scale work and increases the potential for experimentation in form, loading and firing. The kiln is approximately 16 feet long and is fired for 7-8 days; 24 hours a day using about 7 cords of wood.

Kogama Tea Bowl Kiln   (click the images below)

The Tea bowl kiln is a small downdraft gas/wood fired kiln that is used primarily with glazed surfaces. I do not think of myself as a potter glazing vessels. I came to glazing late in my career and approach it more as an artist using glaze to paint abstractly on 3 dimensional form.

Experimental Tube Kiln ( click the image below)

Arched and segmented top loading tube kiln. It is meant to be used for experimenting at higher temperatures than are achieved in the other 2 kilns. It can be fired with wood, and I use a liquid gas burner designed by Nils Lou.
